Puglia Polacca

Here’s the itinerary for our next tour. it will be held between 15th and 30th of April, 2016. This tour will last 6 nights/7 days.

Day 1
12pm: Pick-up of participants from Roma, Tiburtina train station

6pm: arrival to Puglia. Accommodation in Masseria with trulli, a restored farmhouse of the 17th century

8pm: Puglia style welcome dinner and wine aperitivo

Day 2
8am: visit to Matera, home of the Sassi and UNESCO World Heritage site, 2019 European Capital of Culture

12pm: lunch into a rocky underground restaurant, excavated into a cave in the 1960’s

6pm: visit to Laterza wood fire ovens, artisanal bread and handmade pizza with local wine

8pm: back to the accommodation

Day 3
8am: visit to Bari, home of Saint Nicholas, and to the Swabian Castle, housed by Queen Bona Sforza, Duchess of Poland.

1pm: visit to Masseria in Casamassima, for a class of mozzarella-making.

2pm: lunch and degustation of local handmade dairies, such as Caciocavallo, Scamorza and Provolone.

4pm: visit to Casamassima Polish War Cemeteray, where many soldiers from Poland rest after World War II

6pm: visit to Polignano a Mare, a romantic borough upon rock cliffs, and  hometown to Domenico Modugno, singer of ‘Volare’. Degustation of the local ‘rainbow carrot’ and one of the best Gelato of Italy.

9pm: return to accommodation

Day 4
8am: visit to Alberobello, home of Trulli and World Heritage site by UNESCO.

12pm: lunch in Valle d’Itria, a lovely countryside fearing several human works in stone and local fabrics.

2pm: visit to a farmhouse with 1000-years-old olive trees. Degustation of Extra vergine olive oils.

5pm: visit to Ostuni, named the “White City” after the color of its characteristics buildings and walls.

8pm: dinner in Martina Franca, degustation of Slow Food awarded ‘Capocollo’ cured meats, grilled meats and wines.

Day 5
8am: visit to cantina Masseria Ludovico, winemaker. Degustation of wines and traditional pastry.

12pm: lunch in Taranto, degustation of mussels, fish and seafood just fished. Walk through the old town and the Castle.

4pm: panoramic view of the coastline, heading through Manduria, the land of Primitivo wine.

8pm: return to accommodation

Day 6
8am: departure through Lecce, visit to the art city in Baroque style.

1pm: degustation of local wines, bread and desserts.

3pm: departure to Gallipoli, visit to the old town and the beach.

7pm: Goodbye-dinner with fresh fish, local purple-tiger-prawns and wines.

8am: departure through Roma, heading to Tiburtina train station
